How do I join the BCC?
Membership of the council is open to any recognised trade association, research/educational body, or institution concerned with industrial, commercial and institutional cleaning. Unfortunately, individual commercial companies are not eligible for membership.

Where can I get information on different sections of the industry?
The BCC`s 19 members are all specialists in their field, please consult our `Members` section to see which one is most relevant to your enquiry. How can my authority partake in the Clean Britain Awards?
The biennial competition is open to all UK cities (or those with 'city status'); towns (one that forms the constituency of an MP or that was originally incorporated by Royal Charter including metropolitan boroughs, London boroughs and districts); and district (responsible for local planning, housing, environmental health plus more. A full list of Districts is available on the Municipal Yearbook website). Entry can be gained through each relevant Local Authority interested in partaking in the event. What is the relationship between BCC and its members?
The BCC is an umbrella organisation for its 19 constituents. A representative director from each member company meets at council meetings and each are eligible to apply for funding. BCC`s funding comes from half of the profits from the biennial Cleaning Show.

What is the purpose of the Cleaning Show?
The Cleaning Show provides a platform for all movers and shakers within the UK cleaning industry. The event is the largest of its kind in the UK and is starting to gain more and more international visitors. For further information go to: www.cleaningshow.co.uk

Where can I get training as a cleaner?
With more and more academic institutions offering cleaning qualifications, such as City & Guilds, NVQs leading to degree level, we would recommend those with any enquiries to contact our member BICSc, contact details can be found under 'Members'.

Clean Britain Awards 2008/09

Following the eighteen year success of Britain’s Cleanest City Awards and the trial run of the new Clean Britain Awards - won in March 2007 by Birmingham City Council, planning is well underway for an extended Clean Britain Awards Scheme in 2008/2009.
