We have launched these new Awards in order to make the competition more inclusive of all UK councils. We recognised that not only our cities, but many of our towns and districts work hard to keep communities and areas clean and tidy.
In our new competition not only is there the prestige of being named Britain`s Cleanest City, Town or District, there will also be the added benefit of the additional media attention that will be brought to finalists and winners.
The competition is now more representative of the country as a whole and would provide entrants with the opportunity to compare notes with their neighbouring towns and cities on running exemplar operations.
Background
The deadline for entries to the Clean Britain Awards 2008/09 is 31st July 2008.
Unnanounced site visits will take place for all entrants, giving them an opportunity to present their place in a clean and tidy light. The Awards presentation will take place at the 2009 Cleaning Show in Birmingham`s NEC on Tuesday 10th March.
Judging Criteria
Clean Britain judges will look at how each city copes with litter and other related problems such as flyposting, graffiti, dog fouling, chewing gum, cigarette litter and much more.
