Looking Forward to the Challenges of 2008
The ABCD is a member association for local authority cleaning managers in the UK. The association is now in it`s 19th year, and increasingly, members are reporting that their responsibilities are extending out of cleaning and into other areas such as catering, grounds maintenance and even home care for the elderly.
With these extra responsibilities come changes and developments in management techniques, and a range of challenges that require additional skills. On this basis, the ABCD National Executive Committee (NEC) has decided to make Facilities Management(FM)the focus for the Conference at the Imperial Hotel, Blackpool on May 14th 2008.
The NEC of ABCD has identified a number of FM topics where members have expressed a desire to increase their knowledge, skills and understanding, and we would like to use the conference as a platform for acknowledging the developing role of local authorities and their cleaning services managers
Specifically these are: - Defining FM and developing an FM strategy - Focussing on the customer - Understanding contracts for services - Contract management - Mastering the challenge of FM
The format of the conference is to open with a keynote speaker plus two or three others dealing with practical management issues. We also have a slot for one or two authorities working in new areas and offering peer advice and support.
Put the date in your diary and come along. Further information can be found at www.abcdsp.org.uk or email: abcd@wherton.freeserve.co.uk
