Steve Wright, Master of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners (BCC member), will present an Award today, 18th January, to the City of London Corporation`s Streetsweeper of the Year.
Steve Wright said: "I am honoured to be presenting this prize as Master of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners to winners of such an important category. As sponsors of the event the Worshipful Company recognises the need to commend those who toil in all conditions to keep our streets clean and tidy".
The award is one the council`s annual Clean City Awards, commencing at 12pm today, which was designed to celebrate cleanliness standards in the City. The presentation will take place at Mansion House, London, with attendance from the Lord Mayor. The competition winner is Peter Ward plus runner-up Peter Adjei-Boayke, both employees of MRS who run the council`s cleaning contract. Both winner and runner-up will receive a cheque and a framed certificate in recognition of their efforts.
The City of London Corporation is also a finalist in the Clean Britain Awards organised by the BCC of which Steve Wright is Deputy Chairman. The Clean Britain finale is taking place at the Cleaning Show, NEC Birmingham on 13th March 2007.
